The development aid sector's existential crisis shows unprecedented public sector failure - dismantling USAID and reducing OECD funding. This threatens essential solidarity and the global geopolitical system's resilience. It's worsened by the recent all-out trade war started by the US government.
At a time when brutality, selfishness, mistrust, and denial seem to dominate the global agenda, values such as solidarity, cooperation, trust in others, and the recognition of the contributions of both hard and social sciences must be the foundation around which progressive forces rally. The response will necessarily be multifaceted— in terms of values but also through design of concrete, impactful programs that benefit global populations. This is especially true for those in developing countries who are most affected by decisions—abrupt or gradual—to reduce public solidarity efforts or to challenge international trade relations. Our teams have observed this growing fragility in recent weeks during fieldwork in South and Southeast Asia and West Africa, among other regions.
In every aspect of our work, the Ksapa teams strive to embody these values, aligned with our mission-driven company DNA. This begins with our advocacy efforts and sustainability consulting activities, grounded in the integration of environmental and social issues, key to build perennial economic models. It also extends to the organization of agricultural development programs with multidimensional impacts—bringing together investors, corporates, governments, researchers, universities, experts, and civil society to foster effective, regenerative, and inclusive partnership models.
We will continue to commit wholeheartedly to these values and concrete actions. Let us work together for a just transition!
