Discover how combining innovation with digital sobriety is possible and is an approach followed by Ksapa's digital suite.

Can We Combine Innovation And Digital Sobriety?

At a time when AI and the cloud are redefining our purposes, the question of their ecological impact is becoming urgent. In 2020, the digital sector already accounted for 2.5% of France’s annual carbon footprint, and this figure is rising fast. Can we combine innovation and digital sobriety ?

Increasing Consumption of Digital Technologies

While innovation is often synonymous with progress, it also leads to over-consumption: the number of data centres is multiplying (representing 2% of the world’s electricity), energy demand is exploding, massive use is being made of water for cooling, and data is being stored exponentially.

Adopting A Eco-design Approach To Combine Innovation And Digital Sobriety

Yet we can innovate quite differently and combine innovation with digital sobriety. Digital sobriety does not mean rejecting progress, but rethinking the real purpose of technologies. This means adopting an eco-design approach to the development of digital tools: a clean user interface, digital inclusion, optimised code, compatibility with older hardware, and a reasonable use of AI based on the real needs of the business.

At SUTTI, this approach guides the development of our digital suite. Our applications are designed to be useful, eco-friendly, accessible and compatible with older phones. Internally, we also follow the recommendations of the French Environment and Energy Management Agency (ADEME) to reduce our impact.

We can innovate sustainably. It means making wise, sustainable choices, from the design stage right through to the day-to-day use of our digital tools. The SUTTI suite embodies this vision: useful, accessible, and sustainable digital tools.
